Accelerating its development and utilisation is of great significance to safeguarding coal mine safety production, increasing clean energy supply, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

China's coalbed methane resources are of great abundance, and its exploitable resources are about 10 trillion cubic metres, ranking third in the world. It is a new energy industry that the nation is focusing on. However, the development and utilisation of coalbed methane is in its infancy, mainly because it is difficult to support the rapid development of the industry.

Guizhou Dingtai New Energy Development Co., Ltd，subsidiary of CWH resources Limited, investment in the Jiangnan Coal Mine National “First Pump then Construct” demonstration project has successfully ignited five parameter test wells in the mine ground gas in April 2018.

In order to break through the traditional underground gas control technology and process limitations, to implement the safety transformation of coal mines, and further improve the safety level of coal mines, five parameter wells for ground gas drainage in Jiangnan Coal Mine were listed as “first pump then construct” national demonstration projects in 2016.The project was constructed by Xi'an Coal Science Institute on December 18, 2016. It adopts ground drilling pre-extracted coal seam gas control technology.

The successful ignition of the five parameter wells of the project marked the successful completion of the parameter well tests, which provided more scientific data for the ground gas drainage construction and well group layout for the upcoming mining area.

At present, the two horizontal well groups and the five cluster well groups in the first mining area of ​​the mine are under intense and orderly construction, and the national examination is planned to be completed by the end of 2018.
